The West Michigan music scene is no stranger to collaboration, and it was only a matter of time before friends and fellow Grand Rapids-based musicians Michael Dause (Treeskin, Moss Manor) and Ben Traverse (Earthwork Music Collective), teamed up for a special collaboration celebrating water and tradition.
Michael Dause has been playing music since he was only four years old, utilizing kitchen pots and pans as his first drum kit. In high school, he became a self-taught guitarist and songwriter, all while garnering experience in theatre, jazz band, marching band, and choir. After gaining an interest in recording music, he attended a year of Belmont University’s audio engineering program before departing to tour an average of 250 shows per year over the course of eight years, performing primarily with The Accidentals.
Ben Traverse is a young balladeer with a very wide hat who commands a wide array of instruments in their mission to bring the finest traditional folk music into the 21st century. Proud Michigander and Earthwork Music Collective member, Traverse brings a forward-thinking, communal enthusiasm to old and rich musical tradition.
